Baby Resources

Here are a few websites/books that have helped me with baby thus far.

Breastfeeding:

The Nursing Mother’s Companion – canonical text all moms-to-be should read.

The American Academy of Pediatrics New Mother’s Guide to Breastfeeding – I read an older version, but this book was helpful too.

Kelly Mom – best online resource for breastfeeding

Dr. Jack Newman – another great online resource

Sleep:

Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child – long but informative.

On Becoming Baby Wise: Giving Your Infant the GIFT of Nighttime Sleep – controversial in some arenas but we loosely follow Babywise and E has been sleeping well and following a flexible schedule (most of the time). Babywise has worked well for some of my friends.

Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate with Your Baby – Tracy Hogg’s EASY plan is very similar to Babywise. Reading both Babywise and this book has helped me pick and choose what is best for E.

Baby Care:

Baby 411 – This book provides short and clear explanations to problems encountered in baby’s first year. It also provides summaries to different parenting strategies and tips.

Ask Dr. Sears – online resource for all things baby

Toileting:

The Diaper Free Baby – we are hoping to practice Elimination Communication with E so this book was a helpful resource.

Introducing Solids:

The Baby-Led Weaning Cookbook – we are hoping to practice baby-led weaning and this cookbook has a helpful summary of the practice and suggested recipes.
