Making Space for Baby – Organizing Baby Clothes

We live in a one bedroom apartment and space is pretty tight. As such, before E was born, I did some research online and looked for innovative storage ideas.

I came across the idea of using an over-the-door shoe organizer to keep baby’s clothes.

I love that you can see clearly what clothes are in each pocket and that packing the clothes away is relatively easy. I’m not sure how it will work out in the future when E’s clothes are bulkier, but so far things have been great. I also labelled each row so I know what is in the pockets.

For dresses and special clothes, I hang them up in our walk-in wardrobe. We also have hanging storage in the closet for any other extra clothes that can’t fit in the shoe organizer. I got that at IKEA but you can easily find them online as well.

For E’s socks, hats, hair accessories, bibs, swaddle blankets and wash cloths, I use the SKUBB drawer organizers from IKEA. We try and keep E’s clothes to the minimum and so far things have been working out well.
